In an effort to “not diminish their brand” Google changed their name to Topeka. This coming after Topeka, KS mayor announced that the city was changing their name to Google, KS.

Is this just a marketing ploy? What kind of outcome do you think it will have on the Google brand as competitors such as Bing move into the marketplace?

LOL this is a good one! It has to be a April’s Fool joke! Branding takes too long to develop! They can’t just go and change thier name! LOL 🙂 But, still why not! It is catchy! 🙂

Ah yes…one of the best April Fool’s jokes I’ve seen in a long time. You have to admit that the blog was written quite well…even indicating that all future communications should be directed to “Topeka, Inc.”.

Nonetheless, it does leave me wondering what kind of relationship is going on behind the scenes as many counties and municipalities are bidding for Google’s high-speed fiber network. What are your thoughts?

Here is an article related to today’s stunt and the upcoming selection of a Google city.

P.S. – a new google app allows you to upload anything to the “clouds” for only 10 cents a kilogram…haha.
