    The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has got an opening in our Vehicle Emissions section for an Environmental Program Supervisor.

    Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) related to the job include: Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental control, as applied to the identification, monitoring, and regulation of pollution sources; of Federal and State statutes and agency regulations, policies, and procedures relating to the identification, testing, monitoring, and regulation of pollution within the State; of supervisory methods and procedures used in managing resources and personnel assigned to a work unit; of the functions and capabilities of all programs and equipment assigned to the work unit; working knowledge of scientific method of problem solving; combustion engine mechanics, fuels and combustion products; influence and determination of mechanical forces; analytical quantification including principles and techniques of sampling, measurement, data reduction and interpretation; standardized testing methods and procedures as described in the Code of Federal Regulations and principles and practices of mobile source (vehicular) pollution control.

    Skill in supervising the resources of an assigned environmental control program area; in developing/implementing operating policies/procedures for assigned program area(s); in analyzing program needs and establishing appropriate program priorities; in interacting with subordinate professional staff, agency managers, other governmental officials, and the public to establish and maintain effective working relationships and resolve problems; in communicating effectively orally and in writing; in analyzing and evaluating technical environmental control data to ensure completeness and accuracy.

    This position provides technical support to the Vehicle Emissions Program and performs data analysis necessary to the operation and evaluation of existing programs and development of new and
    modified programs. Data reduction and evaluation of on-going regular and special program studies is the primary function of the unit, which includes responsibility for written reports detailing the functional and analytical evaluation of the program. This includes several special studies and reports to the U.S. E.P.A. and other agencies and contractors.

    Must have advanced computer experience (spreadsheets,mathematical/statistical and word processing) and skills in applying management techniques.

    Formal training in physical sciences, including chemical processes and atmospheric photochemistry as applied to the development of detrimental products and principles of analytical quantification, mechanical motion and forces is required
