Everybody has a tight budget right now so how do you choose what you are cutting and what you are keeping?
Oakland, MI is taking the crowdsourcing route to tap into what their citizens want. They spent $35,000 on ideascale and used interns to to do the rest for free.
The new site allows citizens to comment on budget and make suggestions. Citizens can also rank the county’s proposals by voting for the ideas they like best on every issue, from technology to parks and recreation.
That’s a pretty big piece of awesomeness for a county!
