Lincoln Chafee is not only Rhode Island Governor-Elect, but is a huge advocate of the open government initiative. He is even a fan of GovLoop! In a press release on Monday, Chafee unveiled his open government transition website.

Best part? The website features an ideas forum where citizens of Rhode Island can post suggestions and ideas on how to improve government can be improved. The site even includes a “Serve” section which states: “Governor elect Chafee is committed to fostering a spirit of service in Rhode Island by giving citizens the opportunity to participate in public service and engage with their government.”

The website also engages users by using social media. The Governor-elect’s Twitter feed is on the home page and links to Facebook, Myspace, and Hi5 are also included on the site.

The transition website allows for Chafee to engage with Rhode Islanders in a way which fosters and transparency as well as community building.
