I suppose that very heading tips my hand and indicates that mine does.

    But I’m curious.

Does your job require that you keep abreast of what is doing in:

    – other countries?

    – different states?

    – other agencies?

    – diverse governance systems?

    – different communties of practice?

If so, what is the role of any monitoring or exploration you might do? Who uses what you learn? Is such monitoring something you’re expected to do once in a blue moon? annually? for special projects? frequently? Is there any appetite at all where you work for a “comparative” approach?

If you DO engage in this sort of thing,at your employer’s request, do you feel it adds value or has improved anything as a result? Do you engage in it primarily to confirm you’re doing the right thing?
