I’m on the Board of IAP2 USA. We are a nonprofit organization which supports the advancement of public participation here in the U.S.
Originally founded as an international organization more than 20 years ago, IAP2 USA relaunched in late 2010 with a purely U.S. focus (though we work closely with IAP2 affiliates in other countries such as Canada). We currently have about 400 members nationwide, several local chapters and a lot of great things in store for 2012!
If your work involves public participation in any way, IAP2 USA is a great place to connect with fellow practitioners to share, learn and grow together.
We’ve entered the last week of our 99-day membership drive. Through Tuesday, January 31, new members only pay $99 for annual membership (compared to $140 regular rate). Since October, more than 75 new members have signed up.
Here’s a selection of recent blog entries to give you an idea what we’ve been up to lately:
- We the People Follow-Up: February 1, 2012 (you can still RSVP for this one)
- Lewis Michaelson on What Makes the IAP2 Spectrum Unique
- Press Release: Advocates Call on White House to Transform Public’s Participation in Government
- IAP2 USA White House Open Government Response
- The Magic Number Eight Ball…
We’re closing in on our campaign goal of gaining 99 new members in 99 days. If you’re into public participation we hope you will take advantage of this special offer.
If you have any questions, just leave a reply below or contact us.
Have a nice weekend, everyone!

For those in the DC area, there is a pretty good chance that we will re-open our Mid-Atlantic chapter some time later this year. A dozen new members so far in that area alone!
