What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 12 months that may be extended for 12 additional months without further competition.
There is one vacancy; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.

* Overnight travel of 5 nights per month may be required.

As a Biological Science Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) within the Western Fisheries Research Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Responsible for rearing salmon, maintaining animal care records and tagging with passive integrated transponders.
-Responsible for culturing fastidious bacteria and performing bacterial challenges on fish.
-Detection of bacterial antigens by enzyme linked immunosorbent assays and fluorescent antibody tests.
-Cloning, sequencing and development of gene expression analyses for salmon immune genes.
-Perform dissection and necropsy of fish.
