    Job Responsibilities

    Performs basic qualitative analysis of materials such as Portland Cement, fly ash, paint, and diesel fuel using chemicals and analytical instrumentation in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and SCDOT test procedures. Provides assistance to departmental personnel and material suppliers regarding chemical test procedures and results of chemical test of construction materials. Maintains records of current chemical test procedures and equipment calibration for AMRL and CCRL accreditation and participates in AMRL and CCRL proficiency sample programs. Assists and provides information to the Chemical Hygiene Officer and the Radiological Safety Officer. Maintains inventory of reagents.

    Job Requirements

    A bachelor’s degree in chemistry; or a bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences with academic credits in chemistry and one (1) year of work experience in a setting related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
