    Job Description

    Johnson County, Kansas, located in the southwestern quadrant of the Kansas City metropolitan area, exhibits all of the hallmarks of a great community: a thriving and growing business sector; first-class cultural and educational institutions; and distinctive neighborhoods that welcome people. Johnson County is currently seeking a results-oriented and proven technology executive to serve as Chief Information Officer. The Department of Technology and Innovation is dedicated to being a vital partner throughout the County by providing exceptional services through the innovative use of technology.

    The Chief Information Officer reports to the County Manager and is responsible for strategic planning, security, business consulting, services, technical support, geographic information systems, enterprise-wide database administration and web services for the County.

    Johnson County is an equal opportunity/equal access employer and offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The hiring annual salary range is $103,475 – 149,464.

    Job Requirements

    The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to build a unified, customer-centric team through creative use of diverse talent from various information systems/technology disciplines from throughout County government. The Department is comprised of a team of 85 employees and an annual budget of $12,402,117. The capacity to build a cohesive team, capable of planning and directing the County’s use of technology, is essential. The successful candidate will also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or a closely related field (Master’s preferred.) Must have served at least ten years in a progressively responsible role in a large and diverse organization, five years of which as a senior leader. This position will play a key role in making Johnson County a highly responsive and effective county government and the best place in the nation to live, work and raise a family.
