    Job Description
    The City of Raymore is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional with demonstrated management capabilities and leadership skills as the next Chief of Police due to the impending retirement of our current chief after more than 12 years of service. The Chief of Police is responsible for the policy development, control, supervision, and program implementation of the department and is accountable for the effective delivery of police services to the community. The Chief directly supervises two captains and an emergency management coordinator. The department includes thirty sworn positions, nine communication officers, one and a half animal control officers and two administrative support staff. The combined budget for the Police Department and Emergency Management is $3.4 million for the upcoming year.

    Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or similar field is required. A Master’s degree or completion of an executive program in law enforcement command is preferred. Applicants should have a minimum of ten (10) years of law enforcement experience in progressively more responsible positions, with three (3) years in a command position equivalent to the rank of Captain in the Raymore Police Department; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Missouri Peace Officer Standards Training (POST), and a valid driver’s license. City employees must live within thirty-five (35) miles of the city.

    Special Requirements include:

    Current knowledge of applicable police procedures, regulations, codes and criminal case law.
    Knowledge of municipal government and police department operations and technology.
    Knowledge of basic employment law, sunshine laws and related operating rules and regulations.
    Ability to create and maintain positive relations with the public represent the City at various functions and play a visible role in the community and as part of the City management team.
    Knowledge of budgeting processes and basic accounting principles.
