This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of the Commissioner (OC), Office of the Chief of Staff, Office of Legislation, Silver Spring, MD.

If selected for this position, major duties will include: preparing segments of agency position papers on legislative proposal of national importance; providing analyses, recommendations and presenting alternative courses of action for policymakers; for legislative proposals from FDA, HHS, assists higher level specialists in the development of all legislative specifications and background information in support of such legislation; responsibility for the preparation of parts of testimony for FDA officials for hearings before Congressional committees relative to FDA programs, activities, legislative position and proposals; serving as focal point for contact with Members of Congress and their committees and staffs, caucuses and individual member offices to explain FDA’s established policies and procedures; developing special materials, which includes Agency staff papers, summaries, charts, and reports requested by Members of Congress, their committees and staff, and attends hearings on FDA-related matters and reports vulnerable or weak areas and potential or apparent areas of opposition or trouble.
