    This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Food Processing Evaluation Team, College Park, MD.

    The incumbent of this position will serve as part of a team that acts as the center resource on all scientific and technically complex matters concerning food preservation and processing procedures involving thermal processing, acidification, or water activity control. Conduct analyses to evaluate various thermal processing studies as it relate to food preservation, processing and packaging industries, incorporating engineering, food science and microbiological principles. Represent Center in meetings with other Federal and Drug Administration(FDA) units, other federal agencies, state agencies and industry groups concerning compliance problems, policy issues and problem solving strategies in the area of thermally processed low acid foods packed in hermetically sealed containers and acidified foods. Provide consistent and timely responses to regulatory and advisory inquiries including Congress, industry, other state and federal agencies.
