    King County, WA – Department of Information Technology (KCIT)
    Deputy Chief Information Officer

    Description: The Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) is appointed by and reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the County. He/she will be accountable for managing partnerships and technology related issues for the operational services side of KCIT and implementation of the King County Technology Strategic Plan. Areas of technology include but are not limited to: data center, data storage solutions, enterprise application, and regional services such as network, radio, and the cable office. The primary goal of the position is to make decisions and leverage technology and resources to maintain high customer service levels while implementing strategies and guiding principles which align with the business needs of all of King County.

    King County is the 14th most populous county in the nation and the second largest government in Washington State. Operating under a Home Rule Charter and a Council-Executive (both elected) form of government it serves a population of just over 1.9 million. The County has a budget of about $5.1 billion and 13,000 employees. The King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT) has a $50 million operating budget and a $10 million project budget and a staff of 181. The Deputy CIO has responsibility for a staff of about 150 and a $10 million budget plus the budgets of independent information technology projects.

    Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting the information technology business and organizations. Strong experience with project management, strategic planning and implementation, budget development and control, staff management/supervision, and developing/maintaining quality services and partnerships in a complex public or private sector environment.
