As the Deputy County Administrator you will oversee the administration of Public Works, Utilities, Growth Management, Community and Environmental Services and other assigned departments, ensuring all directives, decisions, policies, resolutions, ordinances, and regulations issued by the County Mayor, Board of County Commissioners, or the County Administrator are enacted and enforced. As part of your responsibilities, you will provide recommendations on a variety of infrastructure, planning, capital improvements as well as long and short range strategic planning in the area of land use and development. You will serve on various boards and committees and represent the County in meetings with elected and appointed officials and the general public.
The successful candidate will have the ability to exercise sound judgment in developing, recommending and implementing policies and programs, communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing, and maintain good working relationships with elected officials, boards, committees, department directors and the public.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field, plus five years experience as a public administrator, to include two years of experience as a manager or assistant manager of a city or county. Experience must include knowledge of Florida’s comprehensive planning and land development laws and management of large operating and capital projects.
