    Job Description
    Director of Public Works and Parks
    University City, Missouri is an inner-ring suburb of the City of St. Louis, a vibrant, diverse community of about 35,000 people at the heart of the St. Louis metropolitan area. University City is a full-service City, providing its residents with police and fire service; full recreational facilities; a library; and solid waste services.

    With dozens of churches and synagogues; parks; numerous community organizations; and active entertainment and restaurant districts, University City has something for everyone.
    The City is known for its diversity — from the eclectic mix of commercial activities, range of housing styles, to residents who represent many economic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds. The “Delmar Loop”, straddling the cities of University City and St. Louis, is designated by the American Planning Association as one of the “Great Streets in America”.

    Director of Public Works and Parks
    The primary purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and review the activities of the newly created Public Works and Parks Department, including engineering, street maintenance, park maintenance, forestry, solid waste, traffic operations and fleet maintenance; coordinate activities with other City departments and outside agencies; and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.
    Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Public Administration or related field required; Master’s Degree in engineering, public administration or related field would be an asset. Missouri P.E. or equivalent from another state preferred/desired. Five years senior management experience in the field of public works, engineering or park maintenance. Extensive knowledge of modern principles, methods, practices and materials in planning, designing, operating, and maintaining public works, parks facilities and services, and forestry services.
    Salary range $86,352–$110,616 DOQ, and excellent benefits.
