    The position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research (DIR), Chicago Regional Office, Chicago, IL of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. DIR provides the public with a sound deposit insurance system by: providing comprehensive statistical information on banking; identifying and analyzing emerging risks; conducting research that supports sound deposit insurance, banking policy, improved risk assessment, and consumer protection; and assessing the adequacy of the deposit insurance fund and implementing an effective and fair risk-based premium system.

    The incumbent is responsible for independently providing economic and analysis functions for projects related to enhancing the Corporation’s programs for identifying, monitoring, and addressing existing and emerging risks to the Corporation’s deposit insurance. As such, the incumbent performs economic analyses of the financial services industry (the financial markets, FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, as well as national, international, and regional economic developments) and is responsible for specific phases of comprehensive economic studies requiring gathering, compiling, and reconciling data on issues and preparing management reports for the Division of Insurance and Research (DIR).
