MassDOT’s Employee Relations Manager executes ER programs designed to align HR, LR, and CR strategies with business unit strategies. The ER Manager also provides real time intelligence to MassDOT’s administrators to assist in the development of policy/procedure. This position is critical in helping organization to be more effective in managing human capital.
The incumbent is responsible for administering policies and procedures affecting employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale. This role involves front-line mediation and problem solving of employee issues and complaints. The ER Manager shall also evaluate, make recommendations and implement workplace and personnel policies and practices that will driver innovation, engage employees, and proactively support effective strategies that will enable MassDOT’s workforce to thrive.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration, and (B) of which at least three years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions: A Master’s or higher degree with a major in business administration, management, public administration, industrial engineering, industrial psychology, or hospital administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
*Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
