Under supervision of the Turner Recreation Commission Board, the Executive Director is an exempt position under FLSA, responsible for performing parks and recreation professional work in an administrative role for a USD recreation commission involving responsibility for the effective use of a wide variety of recreation and parks areas, facilities, and equipment. Work requires significant interpretive judgment in variation fromestablished standards and procedures. This employee must possess excellent supervisory, organizational, financial, business, visionary planning, computer, verbal and written communication, and public relations skills. This employee’s work schedule traditionally occurs on weekdays between 8 AM and 5 PM and on occasion during the weeknights and weekends depending on meetings and activities.
Experience: A minimum of five years experience in managing employees and facilities in an executive position in recreation, parks, or a related field, or equivalent cobination of training and experience that provides the appropriate knowledge, abilities, and skills. Five years of progressively knowledgeable and responsible supervisory responsibilities in an executive positions. Kansas recreation commission work experince preferred.
Education: Master’s degree in sports administration, parks and recreation management, physical education, or related field desired, bachelor’s degree required.
