    Job Description
    REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under limited supervision, directs the activities of the County’s Growth Management Department that includes the County’s Planning and the County’s Building and Zoning Departments. Reports to the Deputy County Administrator. Supervises the directors of the County’s Planning and Building and Zoning Departments and supporting staff to include such duties as instructing, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, appraising employee performance, recommending promotions, administering discipline, termination and recommending salary increases. Provides advice concerning policies and ordinances relating to fees collected, the administering and enforcing of County codes, and the ensuring of proper inspection and enforcement of as related to building and construction within the County. Directs the management and operation of the County’s Code Enforcement activities; interprets and administers land and development code; exercises authority in approval or denial of zoning applications based on technical interpretation of the land and development code, as well as other duties as required.

    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    Requires a Master’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field supplemented by five to seven years progressively responsible experience in professional planning and public administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
