The Village of Lake Zurich, Illinois seeks a qualified Human Resources Assistant. This position entails providing comprehensive administrative support to the day-to-day operations of the human resources function to ensure the efficient delivery of benefit coordination, record maintenance, new employee orientation, training, employee safety, administration, workers compensation/risk management, statistical support, employee relations, and report generation. The HR Assistant liaises closely with all departments throughout the organization providing a customer focused and effective HR support service to achieve the Village’s goals and objectives. The incumbent will carry out responsibilities with a significant degree of independence, exercising sound professional judgment and problem solving skills.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with at least a baccalaureate degree in human resource management, public administration, or related field. Three to five years experience in personnel administration, preferably at the local government level.
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of public personnel administration; health, dental, life, and other employee benefit programs; workers’ compensation and risk management procedures; financial and personnel software systems; and knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances related to personnel administration.
Ability to conduct necessary research and compile reports; carry out assigned projects to their completion; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, applicants, labor unions, Village officials, third party administrators, and the general public; maintain confidential and sensitive information; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
PHR Certification a plus.
