    Qualifications and Evaluations

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    All minimum eligibility and qualification requirements established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must be met prior to appointment.

    Some positions may be covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and require additional education, training and experience. If you possess DAWIA Certification, please indicate your Certification Level and Career Field information in your resume.

    Applicants not certified may still apply and be selected for DAWIA positions, but must achieve certification within 24 months of appointment. Certification requirements may be viewed at http://www.dau.mil/catalog/.

    Some DAWIA positions may be designated as Critical Acquisition Positions (CAPs). In addition to DAWIA certification requirements, individuals selected for CAPS must also be a member of the Acquisition Corps at the time of selection and sign a three-year tenure agreement prior to assuming the position.     DAWIA positions at the GS-14 and GS-15 level or equivalent require the selectee to sign a tenure agreement to remain in that position for at least 3 years.

    HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

    Eligible applicants will be evaluated based on a comparison of the position requirements against the quality and extent of the experience or related education as reflected in their resume. Candidates are encouraged to ensure work experiences clearly show possession of knowledge of the subject matter pertinent to the position, the technical skills to successfully perform the duties of the position, and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

    Some positions may be covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and have a Quality Ranking Factor that will be used to differentiate best-qualified candidates. The Quality Ranking Factor is certification at the appropriate level in the appropriate career field for the grade of the position to be filled: Level I for GS-5 and GS-7; Level II for GS-9, 11 and 12; Level III for GS-14 and GS-15. In addition for GS-14 and GS-15 positions, the Quality Ranking Factor includes membership in the Acquisition Professional Community or Acquisition Corps.

    BENEFITS:

    Overseas employment: Candidates initially selected from the U.S. may be eligible for certain overseas benefits, including:

    • Relocation allowances
    • Tax-free living quarters and post (cost-of-living) allowances
    • Interest-free salary advance (an amount up to six pay periods)
    • Student education travel for dependents
    • Home leave, a special paid leave to be taken in the U.S.
    • 360 hours annual leave accumulation as opposed to normal 240 hours
    • Job placement options back to the U.S. upon completion of overseas employment

    A final determination will be made at time of tentative selection based on both position and personal eligibility.

    OTHER INFORMATION:

    Military Spouse Preference (MSP): If you are the spouse of an active duty military member, then you may be eligible for MSP.

    To be eligible you: (1) must have been married to your military sponsor prior to reporting to the new duty assignment; and, (2) must have accompanied your military sponsor on a Permanent Change in Station (PCS) move; and, (3) the position for which you are applying must be within the commuting area of your military sponsor’s new permanent duty station.

    You must request MSP in your application by: (1) marking Yes to the question, ‘Are you the spouse of a relocating military member or DoD civilian?’ located on the Eligibility page of My Resume; and, (2) providing your military sponsor’s new duty location and reporting date in the Other Information section of the Other Work Related History page of My Resume.
