    JOB SUMMARY:
    National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is dedicated to stewardship of our nation's living marine resources, and the habitat on which they depend, through scientific research, management and enforcement. NMFS provides effective stewardship of these resources to benefit the nation, through domestic and international programs supporting coastal communities that depend upon them, while providing safe and healthy seafood to consumers and recreational opportunities for the public.

    This position is located in the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Data Management Systems (DMS) Woods Hole, MA. This position will be filled under the Department of Commerce Alternate Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal General Schedule (GS) pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZP -3 is equivalent to the GS-11/12.

    Salary Range for Woods Hole, MA ZP-3: $62,758 - $97,787

    This position is also being advertised under announcement number NMFS-NEFSC-2011-0079(Merit/Status). Status applicants who wish to be considered as status applicants must apply under the MAP announcement number.

    Those who have not completed a one year Federal probationary or trial period (if applicable) will be required to serve a one year probationary or trial period.

    DUTIES:

    The incumbent will serve as an IT specialist for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Data Management Systems (DMS) located in Woods Hole. MA. The incumbent's duties will include:

    Serve as a developer of web pages, websites and web applications. He/she is responsible for managing the design, development and publishing of internal and external websites. The incumbent's duties will require the usage of web development software and tools to support graphic design and web development.

    Serve as a consultant for other web developers to manage the design, development and deployment of public and internal websites and web applications which meet the agency's standards. Shepherd web related projects through the system development life cycle (SDLC).

    Use an authorized web content management system to manage website content, to maintain standards, to implement templates and manage workflow for web development projects. Ensure that web security standards are met and maintained.
