    The incumbent of this position will serve in an entry level training and developmental capacity with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As a participant in the DISA Career Training and Development Program, the incumbent will receive formal and informal training, which, along with rotational assignments, are intended to enhance individual technical competencies. Assignments may involve applying available technologies and basic management principles to adapt computer methods to a variety of subject matter situations in a highly technical communications environment.

    This position will be relocating to Ft. Meade,
    Maryland in accordance with the Base Realignment and Closure Act. Anticipated date of relocation is 2011.

    The purpose of this developmental position is to perform analytical work concerned with integrated systems, computer programs, and/or equipment. As an entry level trainee, the incumbent will:

    * Assist senior staff members in the collection and analysis of data.
    * Perform a variety of duties with an increasing degree of difficulty and responsibility.
    * Participate in a variety of projects utilizing basic computer skills to provide assistance in evaluating requirements and procedures.
    * Assist with the preparation of technical reports, and interacting with senior program officials.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    GS-5 and GS-7 (or equivalent):

    For all positions, individuals must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies listed below; the experience does not have to be IT-related. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

    1.Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

    2.Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    3.Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    4.Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent):

    Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To qualify for the GS-7 (or equivalent) you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service receiving intensive formal and on-the-job training in the collection and analysis of data; participating in a variety of projects utilizing basic computer skills to provide assistance in evaluating requirements and procedures; and assisting with the preparation of technical reports, and interacting with senior program officials. In addition, I have experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solution; plan and organize work; assess clients’ and customers’ needs and expectations; and communicate effectively orally.

    Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
