    Job Description

    The City of Aztec has an opening for a Library Director. This is a regular full-time position requiring attendance at City meetings and some travel. Salary range DOE $48,692.00 – $51,667.00. A cover letter, application and resume are required. Position will be open until filled.

    The Library Director is responsible for overseeing direct operations of the Aztec Public Library by providing a quality collection that meets the needs of the public; envisioning and interprets community needs, develops new programs and services. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science, Applied Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Organizational Management or closely related field. Master’s degree in Library Science preferred. Five years experience in professional library management, with at least two years of supervisory experience required. A comprehensive knowledge of public library philosophy, practices, services, procedures, budgeting and applicable state law. Thorough knowledge and demonstrated competence in library automation. Strong technology background (computers, relevant software and internet research). Excellent written and oral communication skills.
