The City of Garland, TX, a prominent Dallas metropolitan area community, seeks experienced candidates to serve as its Managing Director of Information Technology (CIO). The successful candidate will lead an IT Department staff of approximately 55 supporting an employee population of over 2,000.
The position requires extensive knowledge of information technology operations and general practices, extensive knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations as they apply to information technology, and basic understanding of technology for utility operations. This role is responsible for planning, implementing and directing all activities of the Information Technology Department such as: establishes departmental goals, long-range plans, objectives, policies, directives, regulations and standard operating procedures based on the needs of the City and the IT Department; oversees and administers budget preparation for the IT Department. Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, computer science or related field, and 10 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including 5 years in a managerial role, preferably in a municipal setting. A masters degree and municipal experience strongly desired.
