About the Position:
NDAA FY2010 requires the repeal of NSPS. The position(s) covered by this vacancy announcement is scheduled to transition from NSPS to GS or an applicable personnel system no later than January 1, 2012.
This position is located Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC), Patient Administration Division. WAMC is located on Fort Bragg and occupies over 1 million square feet scattered over 163 acres of land. There is an onsite gymnasium, star quality dining facility, full-service bank, shopette, barbershop, florist, etc., located in the hospital complex. The work area is well lighted and temperature controlled. Special safety precautions are used to reduce exposure to pathogens. Strict compliance with laboratory saftey standards/guides is required. Fort Bragg is co-located with Fayetteville, a culturally diverse city. Fort Bragg is centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina which enjoys seasonably palatable weather year round, and has several renowned colleges/universities. Fort Bragg is two hours from the beach and approximately five hours from the Appalachian mountains.

Serves as Medical Records Administrator and Coding Compliance Officer. Functions as a coordinator of a highly complex medical statistical reporting system, ensuring accumulation of adequate statistical data has timely submissions and reports it to higher headquarters. Consults with physicians on most difficult record problems, explaining deficiency, correction required, and solicits physician's cooperation. Makes decisions on medico-legal matters in regard to release of information. Conducts continuing evaluation of total medical records program for overall efficiency and effectiveness. Keeps employees informed on management goals and objectives, as well as changes in regulations, policies, and procedures governing the work. Represents military treatment facility in court upon subpoena of medical records. Aids in quality assurance research projects. Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative for all coding contracts.
