    Program Mission

    NGA is a member of the US Intelligence Community and a Department of Defense (DoD) Combat Support Agency. Our mission is keeping the nation safe and secure.     Application Process

    NGA offers students a variety of employment opportunities, from Intelligence Analyst positions to Human Development Consultants. Review the three student Assignment Opportunity Notices (AONs) posted on the Current Vacancies listing to see where your skills and knowledge are a best fit. Apply to the AON that most interests you!

    Step One of the Application Process:

    Step Two of the Application Process:

    At NGA, our students are our future workforce. We hire the best qualified students and align them within NGA to assist in meeting our mission needs. Our goal is to convert successful students to full time permanent positions upon graduation. NGA student employees receive real work experience, professional development training and participate in planned activitites throughout the summer designed to enhance their understanding of our mission. In addition, all students receive a security clearance, competitive salaries, earn annual and sick leave, are eligible for paid holidays, and may have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule or participate in our fitness program.

The Stokes Scholarship provides tuition assistance, annual salary, and benefits to a small number of high-achieving college students interested in a career with NGA.

    Student Employment Program Basics

    • Students are required to work a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer.
    • Students will be evaluated at the end of each summer and with successful performance, student assignments could be extended yearly until graduation.
    • You must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
      • The definition of half-time is the definition provided by the school in which you are enrolled.
      • The accrediting body must be recognized by the Department of Education.
    • For consideration, you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain in the program.
    • You must be enrolled in graduate, baccalaureate or associate degree program with coursework related to NGA’s mission (see Desirable Qualification Criteria in each AON for relevant coursework).
    • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age.
    • Students must be able to obtain a top secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. You will be tested for illegal drug use. Use of illegal drugs within the last 12 months is generally not acceptable. Illegal drug use prior to 12 months ago is carefully evaluated.
    • Most student positions are in the Washington, DC metro area and in St. Louis, MO. Indicate any location preferences in your online application.
