    This position is located in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Consumer Education and Engagement, Office of Older Americans. You will serve as an Older Americans Policy Analyst for the CFPB, conducting research and analysis to support the development of CFPB’s policy with respect to key strategic research, and policy development initiatives in the Office of Older Americans. You will also support the CFPB’s mandate to address the financial protection of the older American population by implementing and evaluating policies through project plans; conducting general research on trends and issues affecting financial literacy and decision-making of seniors, working on the development of goals for financial counseling programs and making recommendations about the policies to senior staff and relevant policymakers.

    DUTIES:

    The duties below reflect the Older Americans Policy Analyst at the full performance level. Specific duties include:
    # Interpreting high level economic, social and financial product research on issues affecting financial decision-making of seniors and synthesizing the results of research to agency senior staff, other policy makers and the public.

    # Conducting general research on trends and issues affecting financial literacy and decision-making of seniors, identifying potential problems facing seniors and gaps in policies, and providing advice and guidance to management about potential solutions.

    # Working with other staff in the Office, developing policies to meet the statutory requirements of Dodd-Frank, including developing goals for financial counseling programs and a mechanism for monitoring those programs, and addressing unfair, deceptive, abusive practices. Researching the options for implementing those policies, including legal enforcement, and making recommendations about the policies to senior staff and relevant policymakers.

    # Developing written materials, such as reports, tailored for the public, senior staff, policymakers and other audiences, and oral communication with variety of audiences, including senior management.

    # Coordinating consumer protection of seniors efforts with the work of other parts of CEE and divisions within CFPB to ensure consistent policies and efficient use of resources. Coordinating with Federal agencies and State regulators to promote consistent, efficient and effective enforcement of consumer protection efforts.

    # Working with groups protecting seniors to identify and develop needed programs and policy approaches to protect seniors from financial fraud and to deter deception of seniors in the financial marketplace.

    # Following all Federal and Bureau requirements regarding Records Management, Privacy, FOIA, Transparency, Ethics, and Procurement. Attending and participating in all mandatory training or Bureau events.
