Performs advanced communications dispatch work to receive and respond to 911 calls for police or other related emergency incidents. Dispatches police and arranges for other response such as fire, public works, utilities, or other support assistance. Maintains current information on the location, status and availability of police, including the location and availability of reserve vehicles. Provides on-going updates to responding field personnel or other agencies. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate (GED); and
One (1) year of experience as a Telecommunicator in the Saint Paul Police Department; and current MNJIS (Minnesota Justice Information System) Hot File certification, such as that offered by the BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension); or
Two (2) years of public safety dispatch experience in another jurisdiction and equivalent certification.
Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining the MNJIS certification.
