    This position is located in the Office of Policy, Planning and Innovation. The incumbent of this position serves as the Public Health Advisor (SAMHSA Regional Administrator), representing Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) at the Regional level. SAMSHA is the Federal focal point for reducing the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.

    The incumbent of this position serves as the Public Health Advisor (SAMHSA Regional Administrator), representing Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) at the Regional level with major delegated authority to speak for and commit the SAMHSA to specific courses of action. Incumbent serves as a regional focal point for SAMHSA as the effective and visible advocate within the Federal government to ensure continued improvement in the delivery and financing of prevention, treatment and recovery support services.

    Represents the Administrator on all matters pertaining to behavioral health care initiatives. Provides authoritative advice and assistance to the Administrator on important behavioral health care policies and innovative initiatives for use in the delivery and financing of prevention, treatment and recovery programs. Participates and collaborates with the SAMHSA Director Division of Policy Liaison, in the development of national policies, programs and initiatives. Serves as the conduit on all SAMHSA policy, planning, regulatory and legislative proposals affecting Regional behavioral health care initiatives.
