This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, San Francisco Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of risk management.
* This position requires very frequent overnight travel.
* Incumbent may be relocated to any duty location to meet management needs.
Under the supervision of the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Director, or Assistant Regional Director, the incumbent serves as a key management representative and recognized technical authority responsible for planning and directing the supervisory efforts of one of the nation’s largest and most complex banking organizations. The incumbent will be responsible for assessing risk to the deposit insurance fund posed by the assigned organization, regardless of charter. The assigned organization will include large and complex depository institutions and affiliates, which will likely have operations extending beyond the geographic boundaries of the Region in which the incumbent is assigned.
Directs and conducts financial institution supervision and examination functions, with a view toward assessing risk, as well as strengthening and improving the condition of the assigned organization.
Oversees or performs activities related to the review, analysis and processing of reports of examination, applications, investigations, and other duties of an administrative nature involving the assigned organization.
Initiates, conducts, or participates in conferences or meetings with other supervisory agencies and bank officials, develops formal plans and programs designed to correct deficiencies in the operation of the financial institutions under their supervision, and obtain commitments from bank officials where appropriate.
Maintains an informed position on economic and financial trends which may impact the financial condition of the assigned organization.
Prepares, or directs the preparation of, memorandums, reports, analyses relating to offsite monitoring programs, such as quarterly preparation of a detailed, written assessment of the financial condition, material changes in, and future prospects of the assigned organization.
Communicates with financial institution management and the general public to respond to and resolve questions, complaints, and inquiries. Provides technical advice, counsel and guidance to others, including field bank examiners and Case Managers. Also participates in or conducts examinations or investigations of large, complex banks which are not part of the assigned organization.
