    This position is under the general supervision of the Director and Deputy Director, Public Diplomacy Training Division, School of Professional and Area Studies (SPAS/PD). As an expert in social media platforms (including monitoring methods, evaluation and analytics tools, and strategic planning), interactive technologies, course design, and knowledge management, the incumbent of this position is responsible for the performance of duties involved in carrying out the functional responsibilities of the Division.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS:

    • U.S. Citizenship is required.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
    • Relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
    • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
    • One year probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.


    Duties

    Additional Duty Location Info:

    1 vacancy – Alexandria & Arlington & Falls Church, VA

    Participates in the design and development of new courses and modules in social media. Revises existing courses and modules in order to update material and ensure that the training provided is useful and applicable to the intended audience.

    Serves as instructor in various courses and modules of the Division’s public diplomacy training curriculum. As requested, designs and delivers social media training for courses in other FSI Schools and Divisions. Integrates these subjects with the content of other courses and advises on appropriate instructional methodologies.

    On a continuing basis, maintains mid-level contacts with other bureaus and officers in the field to ensure that training programs and curricula are developed to achieve specific training objectives that are continually updated to reflect the mission of the Department of State and the Foreign Service Institute.

    In coordination with the Division Deputy Director, acts as the Division’s knowledge manager, develops knowledge management policy for the Division, and manages the Division’s internet and intranet platforms.


    Qualifications and Evaluations

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    GG-12: All applicants who apply to the GG-12 level must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GG-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

    * Designing and delivering interactive social media training to adult professionals in traditional classroom settings and via online platforms.

    * Using digital marketing strategies and tactics to monitor, grow, and strengthen online communities.

    * Using technology as an integral methodology for training and instruction.

    * Collaborating and consulting with colleagues and subject-matter experts.

    * Effectively communicating orally and in writing with a variety of audiences.

    There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS/GG-12 position.

    GG-13: All applicants who apply to the GG-13 level must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GG-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
