NCUA is the federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions and insures savings in federal and most state-chartered credit unions across the country through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), a federal fund backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.

    This position is located at the National Credit Union
    Administration (NCUA), Office of Public and Congressional Affairs (PACA). The incumbent will plan and carry out a program of public relations and community awareness to disseminate an accurate perception of the NCUA and facilitate proper utilization of the agency’s program of services.

    As a Social Media and Outreach specialist, you will be responsible for enhancing the agency’s traditional communications efforts to the public, increase public attention to NCUA and drive significant traffic to the agency website. You will establish liaisons with other federal agencies and third party web sites; facilitate integration of social media efforts with key internal and external stakeholders; maintain the agency’s presence on third party web sites; develop and update the agency’s privacy policies; monitor the agency’s web presence; negotiate terms of service agreements; conduct risk assessments; develop social media policy; update the agency website; outline privacy impact assessments; create bumpers between the agency website and third party web sites; establish records management schedules for new media content; and tailor the agency’s outreach efforts to meet evolving needs. You will conduct outreach and engage target audiences through various social media with information about NCUA, its mission, initiatives and events; gather information to determine social media opportunities, advising management on emerging social media trends, and collaborating with different program areas to facilitate initiatives; design and implement staff social media training at all levels including workshops and larger scale training; track and measure the success of agency’s media program; monitor and post to blogs, forums, and other social media; and establish and maintain an effective working relationship with members of the news media and specialized groups interested in NCUA’s programs, and regional offices.
