    Job Description

    Lincolnshire, IL (7,500) seeks experienced, professional candidates to apply for the position of Village Manager. The Village of Lincolnshire is located about 34 miles north of downtown Chicago in Lake County and is one of the area’s premier suburbs with excellent schools, generous open space areas, vibrant businesses, winding roads and luxurious homes. The community was planned around its mature trees giving it a distinct rural charm.

    The Village has 72 full-time employees, an annual budget of approximately $20 million, and four departments: Community Development, Finance, Police, and Public Works. The Village is served by the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District.

    The Village Manager is appointed by and reports to the Mayor and a six-member Board of Trustees, elected to staggered four-year terms. The current Village Manager is retiring after 19 years of service. Additional information: http://www.village.lincolnshire.il.us/

    Job Requirements

    Candidates will be expected to have a strong background in leading municipal operations, economic development, and financial management. Candidates must have five to seven years increasingly responsible experience in a community or organization of comparable size and/or complexity. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field. A master’s degree is strongly preferred. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal skills, an approachable, welcoming style with the community and staff, and a proven record in effective service delivery and creative problem solving. Strong writing skills, oral presentation skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented management style are essential.
