“Compelling Design: The Secret to More Effective Communication”
February 23, 2009
8:30 – 11:00 a.m.
732 North Capitol Street, Washington DC
(a few blocks’ walk from Union Station – Government Printing Office Headquarters)
Design is a powerful communication tool, particularly when an organization is building or revitalizing its overall image. However, many organizations do not take full advantage of the power of visual imagery to engage, educate, and even persuade their key stakeholders. More than just an eye-catching logo or a punchy marketing communications campaign, design is (or should be) an integrated, mission-aligned decision that results from careful research, deliberation, and organizational strategy. In this presentation, given by a senior representative of the consultancy Landor Associates – which designed the Department of Homeland Security seal, among countless other well-known brand icons – we will explore practical ways that organizations can use design to tell their story both to employees and to external audiences.
