    Description: Responsible for UNIX servers (Sun F15000 and smaller) and the operating systems software and its successful integration with the hardware and
    applications software of the major computing systems across the
    organization. Plans, tests, installs, and integrates new and upgraded
    versions of the relevant operating systems on organizational computer
    systems, all third-party software components, and subsystems. Develops
    test plans and procedures. Tests and integrates software and hardware.
    Manages software life cycles. Establishes development, testing,
    staging, and operating environments. Designs interfaces to external
    systems. Maintains and consults for relevant operating systems on
    organizational computer systems, all third-party software components,
    and subsystems. Researches and resolves systems software problems
    efficiently and accurately while adhering to internal software
    management standards and procedures. Troubleshoots problems that may
    involve applications and the network. Provides technical support to
    applications and utility developers on requirements for integration
    into the operating environment. Maintains and updates documentation on
    the operating systems configuration.

    Summary of the Work: The System Administrator coordinates and/or performs Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities on UNIX servers for a JAVA based
    middleware library that interfaces to an enterprise wide multi-terabyte
    database system. Duties include: Developing and documenting the full
    range of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for O&M activities.
    Identifying recurring O&M problems and presenting recommended steps
    to reduce the severity and frequency of the problems. Assisting
    application developers in testing and debugging new programs to ensure
    compatibility with existing server technologies. Management of
    software life cycles in development, testing, staging, and operating
    environments. Candidate will be responsible for deploying new code to
    all environments (including one evening/month for Production
    deliveries), maintaining storage space on file system, responding to
    system alarms, collecting statistics and providing general customer
    support. Candidate must have strong communication skills and will work
    side-by-side with project clients on a daily basis, to assist with
    implementation, configuration, and issue resolution. Pager Duty:
    Candidate will also carry a pager and be available for 24×7 support on
    a rotational schedule with other team members. Typically pager duty is
    for one week during a two month schedule.Candidate will require HCS

    Required Skill:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong UNIX experience.
    • Create Shell Scripts.
    • Ability to understand XML tagging. Level 2.

    Desired Skills:

    • Familiarity with Agency processes and applications.
    • Experience using Oracle 10(x) and up, Oracle Text, JAVA, J2EE, Castor, XML, Ant, Cruise Control, JUnit, PL/SQL, SQL, Spring Framework, AJAX using
      Javascript, JAVA Struts Framework, Tomcat, UNIX, Perl, JIRA.
