someone care to explain how changing how 2012 bonus for senior executives(being rather nice and somewhat all inclusive this could include as many as 17 senior leaders) is going to make any difference in the 500,000 case backlog of longer than 125 days?!
The Department of Veterans Affairs said Monday it was withholding performance bonuses for senior officials who are in charge of the large disability claims backlog.
The VA said in a statement that 2012 bonuses were being withheld for senior executives because of a failure to meet the VA’s performance goals.
The money will instead go toward helping to eliminate the backlog.
The VA and Secretary Eric Shinseki have come under heavy criticism from Congress and advocacy groups over the size of the claims backlog. Of nearly 900,000 outstanding claims, roughly 500,000 have been sitting longer than the department’s goal of 125 days.
