I just posted this to our civilsay.net blog, but figure I might actually get some comments here at Govloop!

One of the better books I have recently, Story Wars by Jonas Sachs, is entirely relevant to citizen engagement even if it is written for marketers. Watch the excellent video synopsis.

What if public officials acted as mentors to the citizens they serve, helping them to find their voice and positive action in their communities? Too many community leaders (often guided by communications consultants and public engagement firms) still live in a world attempting to broadcast influence rather helping citizens lead an engaged life.
