Tech news is seemingly always rife with stories about one or two innovators making a crazy amount of money after creating “the next best thing”.

Instagram, after all, recently made two guys incredibly rich.

And we all know about the guy who invented Facebook.

Google Drive will premiere next week, if everything goes according to plan.

But all of this falls within the Web 2.0 realm. What about Web 3.0 … and beyond?

I would be interested to hear ideas from fellow GovLoopers about the next best thing!

What will the next big IT revolution look like? And who will profit?

I’m guessing that the next wave will involve contextual awareness and semantic richness. Of course, as Yogi Berra once said, “the future ain’t what it used to be.”

Removing the need to use a “conventional computer” to create digital content. Maybe better ways to communicate without email/SMS/IM and traditional files.
