On April 1, 2009 the Federal Office of Management and Budget released an outline of the Data Elements that would be required to be reported on by any award and award recipient. These data elements are geared toward recipients of the current ARRA funds and reporting begins on July 10, 2009. Does anyone know if these data elements have been finalized? If yes, is there a location on the web where I can locate all the data fields? If No, does anyone know when the reporting fields will be completed and released?
I am trying to figure out how they will affect the data we collect for our grant management process.
Thanks for your help,
I believe that they will be finalized by late May, as OMB is currently soliciting public feedback per data elements, architecture, etc.
Thanks for the reponse. If the data elements will not be available until late May, do you know if this will affect the July 10, 2009 deadline? It seems like a very short window for all the recipients to complete their data collection and get it into a format that can be reported.
Absolutely. It is a moving target to begin with and the short window does not help. Ironically, even solution providers (e.g. Microsoft, CGI, etc.) marketing their ARRA solutions have not figured it out either.
Dashboards are another necessary ARRA data reporting output, especially for transparency purposes. Microstrategy has a cool, multi-faceted ARRA dashboard as does Washington State and their impressive interactive dashboard type app. Arkansas provides mobile device type reporting apps which may be unprecedented.
