35+ cities across five countries are hosting local opengov innovation summits between May 14-22, 2011. These are self-organizing events to cultivate local communities of practice around transparency, participation, and collaboration. This is a chance to increase awareness of the broader opengov community where you live and to empower groups that are already working on opengov at the local level.
If you’re interested in learning more or signing up to organize an event, full details are here. The expected time commitment is 1-3 hours per week. Our job as the Central Planning Team is to help you find the resources you need. Local teams will be connecting with each other via Google groups to share solutions to common planning challenges. The planning process is designed as a learning opportunity and a case study in itself.
