I originally posted this for people looking for Online / Internet Education, But, it also fits perfectly in your new group!
I looked and Looked and no where on here did I find FEMA courses in the Online Education group. FEMA gives free courses online about all kinds of emergency type of things. You will even receive a certificate, and you can receive CEPs.
If you are into this kind of thing (I AM), then this is the place for you! Register for classes and start learning some really fun things about Disaster Management.
There is training provided for professionals, community volunteers, and even individual families. I love this site. The classes are so interesting, I want to eventually take all of them.
Thanks Amanda for sharing. Naim
I can definitely vouch for these courses, they are great! I have taken several of their online NIMS Incident Command courses and had the priviledge of attending one of their resident programs on WMD Hazmat operations (at the Center for Domestic Prepearedness in Anniston, Alabama.) I can't speak highly enough about all of my experiences related to these courses and am excited to attend my next training sponsored by them in New Mexico this Fall (Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings.) Within the first responder community these courses are also under utilized, which is somewhat puzzling to me. They have a wide range of topics and top notch education for free, what coud be better!
Crisis communication students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have to take several courses in the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which is a great value for anyone going into government communication. Courses are simple but have some great info for communicators.
