This fall marked the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, which have had a profound effect on American society and government. According to a recent survey by the Public Service Research Panel (PSRPanel.org), 21% of public service professionals surveyed said the 9-11 attacks motivated them to pursue or continue a career in public service. In addition, 16% said that the 9-11 attacks encouraged them to study government, public policy, or public affairs. The survey is based on responses from 193 public service professionals from across the United States participating in PSRPanel.org, an online academic research panel organized by Rutgers University’s School of Public Affairs and Administration.
