We are looking to do a fun post for Monster on the top 10 things recruiters should be thankful for this season. I’d love to get your input. What are the biggest challenges that recruiters are facing and what makes it worthwhile?
I am the director of HR in the nonprofit sector. I supervise the Recruitment Department. Honestly, I can tell you that the most excite duty in HR is being a Recruiter because you can bring new blood to the organization, a new employee with brilliant ideas, people with positive attitude, people with a high level of interest to make the difference in the company, government or organization and people who want to succeed.
Now, at this moment is terrible to be a recruiter. 🙁 As a recruiter you can receive thousands resumes for one position. Most of those applicants are overqualified! and sadly you only can select one of those thousands.
If I will be part of your company I would like to develop the poster having a Santa on it with a smiling face and a big bag full of vacant positions. He has to be in the main street of NY or DC giving each people without a job an envelope with the address of the company that will hire him/her immediately. The street has to be full of car, many lights, christmas trees, people walking around, children with gifts, etc. It is the dream of all american people looking for a job. Have a nice day!
I’m thankful that the Lord has given us hope to receive and give in measures that surpass even a recruiter’s huge vission. I’m thankful that every once in a while, we get to see the full completion of an effort or plan. My greatest challenges are usually finding managers who are willing to see the potential in someone and willing to invest in training and mentorship. I believe the greatest employees are found and then grown. Blessings.
Martha and Bruce, thanks for your replies! Good insight.
