Would love to hear a little bit about yourself. What do you do at the IRS? How long have you worked there, what attracted you to the IRS, etc.?
I’ll start, though I’m sadly not an IRS employee.

I’m a communications analyst in the IRS Recruitment Office. I help manage our Facebook page and our activity here on GovLoop. I work with our business units to write job announcements in plain language. I also frequently write articles, help develop print products and advertising – in general I do a little bit of everything associated with communication.

I am the project manager for the IRS Careers Island in the Second Life virtual world. I came to the Internal Revenue Service in 1977 as a tax collector in Los Angeles. After some years of convincing people to become taxpayers in such exotic locations as the docks of San Pedro, the beaches of Orange County, and the hills of Hollywood, I moved on to become a technical instructor, education specialist and, most recently, a senior recruitment marketing specialist in the IRS Recruitment Office.
Currently I am working with my team of interns on an interactive fit-check tool to help students and job seekers find the IRS Career that is the best fit. It is being built as huge maze in Second Life, which is in turn used to build the web application on the IRS Careers website. To find out more, go to http://www.jobs.irs.gov/secondlife.html

I’m a secretary in the Field Assistance/Tax Assistance Center out of the Louisville Kentucky office. I’ve been with the agency for 2 years and 5 days 🙂 . Among alot of other things I ensure smooth operations of the Louisville, Lexington, and Columbus Indiana offices and from time to time the office count increases to roughly five or six offices.
I also (besides the usual, well known secretarial job duties) handle procurement requests, take care of mail logistics throughout the office, handle payments and some frontline customer service as a partial temporary IAR and interface regularly with various departments within the IRS.

I am a Tax Examiner Technician at the Kansas City Service Center, with AMTAP (Accounts Management Taxpayer Assurance Program), which has just recently been reorganized under the brand-spanking new RICS (Return Integrity and Correspondence Services). Essentially we are pre-refund revenue protection , the red-headed step-child of CI.
I’ve been with the Service for almost two years and absolutely love my work. My background is in both law, and software development.
