- Why do you want your resume reviewed?
I would like my resume reviewed because I am currently unemployed and would really like to stay with the Federal government because I feel obligated to continue service for a longer time period. I am fairly confident that I could get a private sector job, but I am willing to make the sacrifice and wait longer to remain government, if this is possible.

I have applied to many jobs over the past 2 months, probably over 40 total, mostly to the US government through USAjobs

I have applied to a lot of jobs, but have yet to receive an interview. I am also a bit worried that I am too young for my grade (age 32- GS14) and I am competing with other people much older than me with more experience.

This position is located in the Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications (CSCC), Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs (R), Department of State (DoS).
The Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications (CSCC) was established in September 2010 to coordinate, orient, and inform government-wide foreign communications activities targeted against terrorism and violent extremism. CSCC operates under the broad policy direction of the White House and interagency leadership. The CSCC Coordinator reports to the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in the Department of State, and works closely with the Secretary of State’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism (S/CT), other Department of State bureaus, and other government agencies.

Serves as developer and coordinator of CSCC content that is informed by Intelligence Community’s assessments and analysis. Evaluates information to develop communication strategies for enhancing Department and whole-of-government efforts and capabilities to counter violent extremist ideologies. Recommends new techniques, strategies, or implementation approaches that will assist in achieving Counter Violent Extremism communications objectives.
Maintains subject matter expertise and develops strategies with Department colleagues. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for maintaining expertise by reading all source analytic products relevant to subject matter. Confers with other specialists and action officers to develop information, obtain clarification of divergent viewpoints, and build consensus for proposed strategies.
Employs marketing skills to determine most effective targeting and positioning of CSCC products and represent CSCC at fora. Serves as an expert in the analysis of policy relevant issues, trends, and developments in counter terrorism strategic communications. Attends conferences, meetings, seminars, etc.
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements, including education and any selective placement factors described below by the closing date of this announcement. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order to be credited towards qualifications. Applicants must have the required experience or education as described below and meet any selective factors, when specified.
Have a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in international law, international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities;
Have a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an accredited college or university that included a combination of courses, with at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities;
Have 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics / quantitative methods.
Have a combination of education and experience where your coursework was equivalent to a major, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours, (as shown above), PLUS appropriate relevant experience OR additional education.
Have completed at least 4 years of appropriate experience in one OR more of the fields listed above in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs. (NOTE: qualifying work experience may have been gained through residence, study, teaching, business or commercial activities, military service, newspaper work, military or civil government activities, missionary or international relief work, or other experience in foreign countries.)

IN ADDITION to the basic requirements, this position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with political science and/or social science research methods and techniques to produce policy relevant assessments that involve analysis of information derived from a variety of sources.
Experience with U.S. foreign affairs information sources, processes, and organizations in order to apply the full range of available information resources and capabilities in supporting the needs of the Department.
Experience providing advice, guidance, and consultation to officials with regard to the interpretation and application of analyses.
Experience with agency’s goals, objectives, programs and relationships to provide expert analytical and advisory services.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Your application will be evaluated and rated under the Category Rating and Selection Procedures on the quality and extent of your education (if applicable), experience, and training that is relevant to the duties of this position.
