What are you thoughts on the frequency of Tweets? Let’s say we’re promoting a webinar on the 30th of any given month. How far in advance do we start tweeting? How many tweets in total should we do? Is there a best practice??
Short answer, depends on your audience. Take into account the timezones your audience is in. I would recommend hitting a week out in the main time zones. For my blog I tend to shoot for somewhere between 10 and 11 AM ET and then again somewhere between 4 and 5 PM ET for maximum results.
Good point on time zones! Thanks John.
Sure thing, always happy to weigh in and hopefully help. -John
I’ve always heard the you should be tweeting 10-20 times a day. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
It always goes back to how it fits in your overall strategy, what your goals are. Some people tweet 50+ times a day (me), others tweet once or twice a day. Either one can be right, or wrong, depending…
I agree with John. Based on strategy and what you really have to say, you should be able to determine what feels right. If you are tweeting too much or the same things over and over, your followers may get the impression that you are marketing too hard and not connecting enough. But too infrequently and they may wonder why bother.
I liked the timezones tip, too!
I have a further question – what should you do if there is a profile you want to follow because of the content, but the frequency is SO OFTEN that it overpowers your entire feed?
Same goes for facebook updates – good content, too often. What to do?
