Discussion group for Government Web Metrics/Analytics.
Tim - I asked the reporter to provide a bit more detail about her sources for this and she replied that she heard this through "reliable contacts." I think there needs to be more substantiation than this; a cost based Google Analytics has long been a great source of speculation. That being said, it could make a nice extension to the Google Apps business. What do you think?
Seems odd Google would then be offering three different Analytics packages--GA, Urchin, and this new one. Since Urchin already costs something (though not a great deal), wonder what the price difference would be with the new one?
Given Government budget limitations, it seems doubtful there'd be much opportunity here in the public sector. Urchin already addresses the major data-custody/ownership issues that seem to be important in Government.
Here's a long post from Adam Greco, of Web Analytics Demystified, discussing a possible high-end Google analytics product: http://adam.webanalyticsdemystified.com/2011/02/07/should-google-offer-a-paid-version-of-google-analytics/
No confirmation here, of course, but some interesting commentary.
