Hello fellow Dukes!! I am new to GovLoop and just wanted to tell you a little about myself! I have been in the TV business for 17 years spending most of my time on the Broadcast side for about 12 of those years first starting off at WVIR-TV NBC 29 in Charlottesville Virginia as a Videographer and then made the move to Norfolk, Virginia at CBS WTKR-TV News Channel 3 where I served as a Photojournalist/On-Line Editor/One Man Band- covering everything from Military Deployments, Homecomings, OPSAIL 2000, Hurricanes galore- BONNIE, ISABEL, FLOYD most notably, fires, shootings and the list goes on . . . but as you know the local news route as indeed run its course and has gone way beyond than just delivering the news and to be honest I got tired of hyping the news and being pretty much a camera monkey! So in 2005 I made the jump to the Government side of things taking my valuable experience behind the lens of the camera and mixing it with all the experience I gained from watching veteran journalist in front of the camera to become a Senior Video Production Specialist for Newport News Television- our city government TV station here in the City of Newport News, Virginia! I pretty much am finally utilizing my Communications Degree from James Madison University to the fullest- producing, writing, editing, creating story ideas, anchoring, shooting, editing, etc. and in doing so I am the executive producer of our award winning monthly magazine show entitled Newport News in Review which covers all the positive things, initiatives going on in the City of Newport News! This job is a passion, a dream come true and I truly love letting the stories take on a life of their own and being able to make a difference in the community thanks to the numerous city departments, agencies and valuable people that make our city so special! Look forward to getting to know you and please feel free to ask any questions!
