The real security threat are not the information leaks. It is targeted malware. If I was a bad guy, after spending a few days on the site friending folks, joining groups, blogging, etc. I could easily entice GovLoop members to click on links I would post in my blogs, forum, etc. Once you click on them there is a good chance your computer will be owned and the worst case scenario is the one in which you’re using your Gov-issued computer. In that case you have a bigger problem than to “simply” re-image your hard drive. Be very careful! My site http://www.tfcn.us has this same problem and no matter how hard I work to screen members somebody is bound to slip through. The same scenario applies to virtually every other social network.
